A comparative study of flood risk management strategy between China and Japan

Abstract

Both China and Japan have been suffering from flood disasters from ancient times and have a long history of battling with flood disasters. Although great advances were achieved to protect people from flood disasters, flood risks in both countries are still high. This study presents analysis on the commons and differences in flood risk management between the two countries. The findings shed new lights on what should be pursued to minimize flood risk.
